Most apps decide what you learn. MyWika is built around what you actually need.

Where the name comes from
It travelled a long way to get there. The Sanskrit vāka, meaning to speak, moved along maritime trade routes between ancient India and Southeast Asia and settled into the languages of the Philippines.
MyWika
noun
My language. The words you decided were worth keeping.

The big apps teach the same dozen popular languages. If your language is small, endangered, or indigenous, you are simply not on the roadmap — and you never will be.
MyWika starts from the opposite place. Any language works. Type your own cards, or ask the community for a starter pack for a language that doesn't have one yet. Nothing has to be popular to be worth keeping.

Learning a language isn't really about vocabulary. It's about being able to say something to someone — to ask, to answer, to be understood.
That's why MyWika is built around the sentences you actually need to say, not a curriculum's idea of what a beginner should know.

How it works
Load a ready-made deck to get moving, or type your first card and start completely from scratch — any language, including one nobody has made a pack for.
Sort them into your own categories, mark what you've mastered, and keep the pronunciation notes that help you personally.
Break a word into its prefix, root and suffix and watch the pieces come apart and go back together. Once you see the pattern, you stop memorising one word at a time.
Recognising a word on a multiple-choice screen isn't knowing it. Practice makes you produce both sides, so you find out what you actually remember.
Add the words you hear at the dinner table. Keep the pronunciation notes that help you. Sort your cards how your brain sorts them. Nobody else's list, and no algorithm deciding what you see next.

Every card you fix, every word you break down, every sentence a native speaker confirms — that knowledge doesn't stay locked on your device.
It rides along when you share a pack, so what you teach MyWika becomes something the next person learns.

Better together
MyWika grows with the people who use it. Share the packs you build, download the ones others made, and request a starter pack for a language nobody has covered yet.
The best learning happens between people — a native speaker checking a phrase, someone fixing a word for the next learner. That's what we're building toward.

Install MyWika to your home screen and it keeps working with no connection at all — on a plane, on a mountain, wherever your signal gives up.
Your cards live on your device. No account, no sign-up wall, nothing to cancel.

It takes about ten seconds to find out whether this suits you.
