Terms of Use

The rules for using MyWika, in plain words.

Last updated October 16, 2026

On This Page

MyWika is a language learning app made by NexEdge Studios. We want it to be easy to use and easy to understand, so these terms are written in plain language. By using MyWika, the MyWika app, mywika.com or community.mywika.com, you agree to them.

The Short Version

  • Learn as much as you like. The offline app is free.
  • What you make is yours.
  • If you share it with the community, you let us keep sharing it.
  • Be kind, be honest, and don't post what isn't yours.

Who Can Use MyWika

Anyone can use the MyWika app without an account.

You must be 13 or older to make a MyWika account, use Sync or Backup, or join the community. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian should read these terms with you.

Your Account

You sign in with your email address and a one-time code. Keep your email account secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in to MyWika as you.

One account is for one person. Don't share it, sell it, or sign in as someone else.

Your username must not pretend to be another person, a brand, or the MyWika team.

You can delete your account at any time. See our Privacy Policy for what's deleted and what you can choose to leave up.

Free and Paid

The MyWika app, its starter packs, community packs, and everything people make and share stay free.

Paid plans (Sync, Plus, and later Max) pay for things that cost us money every month to run, like servers and cloud storage. Each plan's price and what it includes are shown on the Plans page before you buy.

If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission to buy a plan.

Paid plans are subscriptions. They renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel any time with Manage Plan; your plan keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for.

  • Plans bought on our website or in the downloaded app are paid through Stripe. Cancel them with Manage Plan.
  • Plans bought in the Google Play version are paid through Google Play. Cancel them in the Play Store under Subscriptions, and Google Play's refund rules apply to them. In progress
  • Payments and refunds are covered in our Payment Policy.

If we change a plan's price, we'll tell you before it affects your next payment. Features we've marked as free won't suddenly become paid.

What You Make Is Yours

Your cards, decks, sentences, recordings and packs belong to you. We don't claim ownership of them.

When you keep them private (on your device, or in Sync and Backup), only you use them.

When you PUBLISH something to the community (a pack, a deck, a voice recording, a post), you give NexEdge Studios permission to store it, show it, and share it with MyWika users, in the app and on our sites, for free and worldwide. This permission is what lets other people download and learn from it.

You can remove anything you published at any time. When you delete your account, you choose whether your packs and recordings stay up for the community (shown as from "Deleted Profile") or are deleted with your account. If you leave them up, this permission continues.

You can also hand a pack you made over to another member. Type their username, and they're asked to accept it. Once they accept, it's theirs, with their name on it, and these terms apply to them as its owner. If they turn it down, or don't answer within 14 days, it comes back to you. If you delete your account while a handover is still waiting, the handover is cancelled and the pack follows the choice you made for your other packs. In progress

Copies other people already downloaded stay on their devices.

Using Community Content

You may use packs, decks and recordings from the community for your own learning, and with people you teach.

Please don't sell community content, re-upload someone else's pack as your own, or collect community content in bulk to build another app, website or database.

Only Post What You Have the Right to Share

Only publish words, pictures, recordings and sets that you made yourself or have permission to share.

You can import cards from other apps and websites for your own learning. Publishing someone else's work to the MyWika community is not allowed unless they gave you permission or it's openly licensed.

Every published pack has its own ID that records who made it and when, and every time it changes owners. That record stays with the pack on our server, so its creator is always clear. Every new upload is also checked against the packs already in the community, and a copy of someone else's pack can be turned away or removed. In progress

If you believe something in the community copies your work, contact us at the address below with a link to it and we'll review it and remove it if it infringes.

Community Rules

The community has its own Community Guidelines, which are part of these terms.

In short: no hate, harassment, threats, sexual content, spam, scams, or links to harmful sites. No posting other people's private information. Honest translation mistakes are fine; we'll ask you to fix them.

Moderators can hide content, give strikes, and limit or ban accounts that break the rules. Strikes, appeals and bans work as described in the Guidelines.

A ban only covers taking part in the community. A banned account's profile and posts are removed, and it can't post, reply, vote, react or publish. It can still browse the community and download packs, and the MyWika app, Sync and Backup keep working.

Translations and Accuracy

Some translations in MyWika are made by machines, and some words come from the community. They can be wrong.

MyWika is a learning tool. Don't rely on it for medical, legal, safety or other important translations; ask a qualified person.

If you find a mistake in a starter pack, please report it so we can fix it.

Things That Aren't Allowed

Please don't:

  • break, overload, or try to get into parts of MyWika you aren't meant to reach
  • use bots or scripts to make accounts, vote, post or download in bulk
  • get around plan limits, bans or blocks
  • copy MyWika's app, design, mascot or starter packs to make another product
  • use MyWika content to train an AI model without our written permission

Who Owns MyWika

The MyWika app, its name, logo and mascot, its design, the starter packs, and the websites are owned by NexEdge Studios.

Facts about languages are not owned by anyone. Words, grammar and meanings can be learned and taught by everyone; our copyright covers our own writing, design and organization of them.

Other Services

MyWika uses other services to work, such as Google for translation and Stripe for payments. If we open a Discord server, Discord's own rules apply there. We aren't responsible for how other services work or for websites we link to.

No Warranty

MyWika is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available, free of mistakes, or that nothing will ever be lost. Keep a backup (Settings, Back Up Everything) of anything important.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, NexEdge Studios is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages from using, or not being able to use, MyWika. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility where the law doesn't allow it.

Changes and Ending

We may add, change or remove features over time.

You can stop using MyWika and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date below, and for big changes we'll tell you in the app and by email. Using MyWika after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States. Nothing here takes away rights the law says you can't give up.

Privacy

How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
